Writing commits without a message

I’m currently working on the ASCII Portfolio project. I’m aware that when you write a commit, you are supposed to write a short message in the present tense etc. However, I’ve made a mistake and tried to make a commit without the message, and thus got this message in the console that you see in my screenshot. How do I get out of this?

I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, but for anyone else looking, the commands at the bottom are the key. ^ represents Ctrl, so ^X for Exit is Ctrl+x.
