Why use these single line comments?

#1

Just a little thing I noticed:

// What data format is shown below? Set answer
// equal to 'XML' for XML and 'JSON' for JSON.

// {
//   "Cartoon Foxes": {
//     {
//       "Name": "Fox Tall",
//       "Job": "Bein' tall"
//     },
//     {
//       "Name": "Fox Small",
//       "Job": "Bein' small"
//     }
//   }
// }

Instead of using a multi-line comment by using a slash and an asterisk(/**/), the lesson contains like 14 or 15 single-line comments!

Well, there are a couple of possibilities for this.

  1. The creator of the exercise forgot about the ability to make multi-line comments.

  2. It might look better aesthetically.

  3. There might be a problem with multi-line comments on a website like Codecademy, where that code is being manipulated by many people.
