Why use strings?

Why should you use strings when you can just put your text into Console. WriteLine();. It feels like a bit too much trouble if you can just write it in one command.

Thanks, Codecademy user.

Hello @tera9642865133 , welcome to the forums! Even when you use a Console.WriteLine(), you still need to use strings:

Console.WriteLine("This is still a string");

Notice the quotation marks around the words? That means it’s still a string.

There are also many times where one would want to use just text (a string), but you wouldn’t necessarily want to print/log it to the console.
