You made a typo on the last line of your code :wink:; the curly brace should go before the closing parenthesis:

});

The curly brace ends the function() { } while the parenthesis ends the invocation of .ready().

could you display your FULL HTML code....
or it might just be that you should be using single-quotes-'<p>Hello</p>'
instead of you using the double-quotes-"<p>Hello</p>"
