Why is raw_input is used in python..?

like in this program raw_input is used for a string value.

That is an old lesson written in Python 2.x. raw_input() returns plain text. It is undefined in Python 3.x.

It won’t hurt to take in the old track material that is still available, just so you have a recognition of version 2.x code syntax and usage. With that in mind conversion is a cinch when you encounter it.
