Why is http / https used in addresses and links?

Why is it necessary. The www is the world wide web, isn’t that enough?

Hello Mike :slightly_smiling_face:!

The http and https stand for Hypertext Transfer Protocol (Secure). That part is the transfer protocol for the web page that gets included in a link to transfer it elsewhere. The world wide web is the database per-say that has the web page, which means you need more than the title to get you there onto another one.

I hope this helps =)
