why doesn't print anything

#1

shopping_list = [“banana”, “orange”, “apple”]

stock = {
“banana”: 6,
“apple”: 0,
“orange”: 32,
“pear”: 15
}

prices = {
“banana”: 4,
“apple”: 2,
“orange”: 1.5,
“pear”: 3
}

Write your code below!

def compute_bill(food):
total = 0
for item in food:
if stock[item] > 0:
total += prices[item]
stock[item] -= 1
print stock[item]

#2

Did you call the function on your shopping list?

#3

sorry, i’m new in this branch, can you be more specific, please?

#4
print compute_bill(shopping_list)

#5

it does nothing. :frowning:
after i subtract the item in the stock when i write print stock[item] does not should print the list of items minus the ine that was bought ?

#6

The function should not be printing, for starters. It should be returning the total.
