Why does the course reccomend/require inline styles?


Inline styles are very much discouraged by every standard under the sun. Why does Codecademy teach them before the proper method (linking them in a separate file), or even style tags?

(Also, self closing Div tags are only valid/proper in XHTML.)


Yes, it is. But that doesn't mean the average web developer doesn't know they exist. How do they know? they must have read it somewhere at some point. I think that is what codecademy is doing, showing you the different techniques you can use.

Where are self closing div tags? haven't seen them anywhere in the course
