Why can't I submit my code?!

#1

For the past hour I have restored my code 7 times and yet, it still gives me the same error message. HELP ME SOMEBODY!!! I have no clue what to do now. The browser has not crashed or anything and I am unsure what to do.

#2

I would like to help you, but I don't know which exercise you are working on.

Post your code and someone will be happy to help.

:green_heart: How to post code in this forum.

#3

I am currently working on the make a website: CSS Styling, Navigation. I corrected my code & it continues to say that I have to set the font weight to bold. I've done that as depicted in the image left of my screen. I still get the message when trying to submit my code

#4

Have you written your code in the index.html file or in the main.css file?

#5

Originally I posted it in the index but after multiple tries it didn't work. I then switched to the main.css but the same error message. "oops try again set font-weight to bold"

#6

main.css is the correct place to post your CSS code. Please post everything that you have written in your main.css file here.

#7

here is the code and it still says the same thing about entering in the font weight to bold

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="main.css" rel="stylesheet">
  </head>

  <body>
  <div class="nav">

     .nav a {
       color: #5a5a5a;
       font-size: 11px;
       font-weight: bold;
       padding-top: 14px;
       padding-bottom: 14px;
       padding-left: 10px;
       padding-right: 10px;
       text-transform: uppercase;
       }
     </div>
            <div class="container">
        <ul>
          <li><a href="#">Airbnb logo</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Browse</a></li>
        </ul>
        <ul>
          <li><a href="#">Sign Up</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Log In</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Help</a></li>
        </ul>
      </div>
    </div>

    <div class="jumbotron">
      <div class="container">
        <h1>Find a place to stay.</h1>
        <p>Rent from people in over 34,000 cities and 192 countries.</p>

    </div>

In this course, you have to put all of your CSS code in your CSS file, that's the one called main.css.

All of this:

     .nav a {
       color: #5a5a5a;
       font-size: 11px;
       font-weight: bold;
       padding-top: 14px;
       padding-bottom: 14px;
       padding-left: 10px;
       padding-right: 10px;
       text-transform: uppercase;
       }

must be removed from your HTML file and added to your CSS file.

Hi mxaly22,

The exercise is asking to change the color of just the a elements in the learn-more div. You have change the color of all the elements in learn-more. To select just the a elements, you'll have to write a new CSS rule for that and then put your `color: #00b0ff; in there.

#13

I changed all color to 00b0ff in the elements for learn more and it still gave the same error message.
.learn-more {
background-color: #f7f7f7; <<<<<((do I change this to [#00b0ff] also, it did not work when i did it.))
font-family: 'Shift', sans-serif;
color: #00b0ff;
}

#14

We aren't quite on the same page - yet! :smile:

You need to SELECT the a elements in the learn-more div in order to be able to apply styling to them.

Remember back in exercise 2, you SELECTED all of the a elements in the nav div like this:

.nav a {
    ... all the styles are in here
}

The .nav a part of that is called the SELECTOR.

You need to write a SELECTOR for the a elements in the learn-more div.

#15

:sob: I am still not understanding at all honestly. Are you saying that I need to change the color of this
.nav a {
color: #00b0ff;
}

#16

nevermind lol i understand. my frustration was blinding me.:smile:

#17

When you feel that happening, it's good to get up, walk around, get a cup of tea :wink:
