Yes, and the first version of C was written in B. Then they rewrote C in C, compiling itself. Don't try to understand that. Its weird.

It has been this way ever since, C is compiling itself

Someone wrote C code, which is known as python. So python gets interpetered by a C program, which gets compiled machine language
