Which is the best platform to teach kids coding?

My 7 years old kid is interested in coding and would like to learn it. Which would be the best coding platform to teach kids coding?

Maybe scratch? link

Scratch is less writing code, you can drag, drop and nest existing blocks. Its looks a lot friendlier then only lines of code.

I am sure there are plenty of scratch tutorials out there

Side-note: given Codecademy is based in the USA, we must comply with COPPA (children online privacy protection act), which means he can’t use the forum. (unless explicit permissions is given by the parents).

You could also use code.org which has a ton of stuff but you could also use a website called CodeCombat

CodeCombat does not use block programming but it makes it easy to learn your selected language. I believe that you can choose between Javascript or Python.
