What's the point

#1

animals = ["cat", "ant", "bat"]
animals.sort()

for animal in animals:
print animal
l
l
what is the point in this why use a sort function in coding when you could very easily just keep it sorted while typing it in the first place i understand that it is something that might be useful in rare situations but i just see it as a lot of useless extras

It is very useful when you have information input. If 100,000 people enter their names, you aren't going to go and retype them all by hand.
