Hi all, I am a beginner to coding and honestly I like it a lot. Computer sciences and everything is just so fascinating to me and I would love to hurry up and finish this thing so that I can start crafting my own programs (most likely A.I.). However, I have some questions on how to go about it. What should I do? I’ve heard you can do hacking with it, you can make games with it, and loads of other stuff, but I’m not entirely sure what I should do. It is all just really cool and interesting.
I also would like to know how much I can do with it, because I don’t want to set any unrealistic goals that I eventually will realize I can’t reach.
It sounds like you find yourself at the beginning of the road. I have good news and bad news. The good news is you are about to start down a path that is super incredible, amazing and exciting. The bad news is you’ll need time and patience to learn everything you will need to do the projects you are talking about.
A. I. is an incredibly complicated field that requires quite a bit of experience. Are you studying the Data Science and Machine learning course on Codecademy? You’ll get a better idea of what it takes to make A. I. work with those courses. There are also a lot of resources online like Khan Academy, Udemy, Fast AI, MIT open courseware and many many others. Check out this Trello board with a lot of information!
You are completely right! AI enables computers to do a lot of amazing things. It really depends on what you are interested on doing. For example: how about a camera at home that sees the clothes you are wearing and makes a list for you of what your favorite clothes each week are? Or maybe you want to teach a computer to play simple games like super mario (https://youtu.be/CI3FRsSAa_U)
Since you still have a lot to learn, don’t worry too much about AI applications. Focus on the technologies that enable AI (like data science) and as you get better at it you’ll realize which part of AI you would like to try.
Again, this is up to you! Are you trying to get a job with this at Tesla for their self-driving engineering division? Because then yes, it will be extremely difficult. But if your goal is to learn enough to DIY projects at home and things like that, then you can definitely learn enough to accomplish it!
Wow, thanks a lot for the help. All of this sounds like a lot of work, but it also sounds like it is totally worth it. Actually a project I thought about doing as a like “This is what I can do” for a company was create an A.I. software that can pass the turing test, which right now sounds like a daunting task, but people are already kinda doing it. Again, thank you for the help, and that A.I. that can learn what favorite clothing people like is a good idea, perhaps it could link up with an Alexa so that you could buy the same clothes if you mess up the original outfit.
