What is the difference between %s and %f?

I've seen several forms of %s throughout the lessons. Is there a difference between the variations?

They define different types of data. %s is a string, %f is a floating point number, %d is an integer(decimal). This is not the modern way to do this. If you want to learn more, look up Python's .format() function.

this helped me so much upon I wasnt the one who asked it
