What is Node?

Question

What is Node?

Answer

Node is an open-source JavaScript run-time environment that allows developers to run JavaScript outside of a browser. Originally, JavaScript could only be run on browsers, and with the creation of Node, they could run JavaScript off of a browser as a standalone application.

Node can also be used to build fast and scalable network applications easily, and provides the largest ecosystem of open source libraries using the Node package manager, or npm. It supports much useful functionality including file requests, dynamic page content generation, and connecting with databases.
