stands for ctrl
so ^x
means ctrl+x
but what dos the M
stands for ? for example M-U
tried to do M+U
but it didn’t work , can somebody help?

What you’re looking for is called a Meta key, this key can vary depending on the system and keyboard layout. maybe in your case is the Alt or Option key. So, when you see a combination like “M-U,” it means you’re expected to press the Meta key and the “U” key simultaneously.
