Welcome to our forums! Please Introduce Yourself

Hi, my name is Yoo-Na Kim.
I’m a secondary school teacher.
I’m trying to make my school projects.
Nothing professional, I’m a newbie.
I’m using Code academy because the courses are so explicit and organized… and is very interactive!
I’ve started the HTML and CSS course, but I’m stil a newbie.
No meetups, no events.
Not yet… I’m stil learning.
The cool story I will share after finishing my project.
I’m waiting for new and interesting experiences on the site… of course, about HTML and CSS.

I am Jason Harris. I have no computer experience professionally. But I am here to become a professional. I plan to use my code skills to eventually develop or program on the block chain.
I am using code academy because I first started coding with Linux using Raspberry pi. I have now come back to windows and plan to take Java HTML Ruby and Git classes. I would like to go to meetups in Salt Lake. Codeacademy has already helped me realize that learning code is an achievable goal. My daughter is also using Codeacademy we both signed up today.:metal:

I’m Maina Onyango, a mechanical engineering student. Recently the company I interned at introduced an e-commerce website for doing sales. I’ve been baffled by the possibilities that creating interactive websites can bring and decided I wanted to master the skill too. I’ll have to master HTML5 & CSS3, Javascript, Jquery and PHP. I’m beginning at zero level. I joined a Facebook group and they recommended that I start from Codecademy. Looking forward to learn as much as I can.

Hello! My name is Hilaria and I recently received my Associates of Science. I am planning to continue my education path and head to Portland State University. However, I am not sure which specific path to follow. I am stuck between Business and Science degree. It is hard to make a decision but I hope with this program I will be able to expose myself to the technology field and decide which one fits for me. I also think that coding is a valuable skill to learn and I know that it will transcend into any career field. I choose code academy because I actually know someone who is a computer science major, he introduced me to this. I have never taken a course about coding, so this will be completely new to me! I hope to participate in tech events in the future!

I am really excited for this and can’t wait to learn all about it!

Hey everyone!

I’m a 20-year-old woman from Argentina and I’m actually a very enthusiastic filmmaking student. I’m here to learn about…well, everything I can, because so far I can’t seem to decide which of all of the available subjects interests me the most. The main reason I’m learning is for fun, and curiosity, but it’d be amazing if I could also get to use my future new skills in a professional way.

I’d love it if there were Codeacademy meetups in Argentina!! (I mean, if I ever get as good at this as to feel confident about starting one myself…I will!)

That’s all for now, have a nice day! :four_leaf_clover:

Hi everyone. My name is Afryzal. I’m an undergraduate Physics student from Indonesia. I heard about codeacademy from Reddit and I’m interested in learning coding from here. I’m planning to use my new coding skills to upgrade my competences and I hope that it will help me in my further Physics research projects. My primary subject of interest is data science (SQL and Python) but I plan to learn web design along the way. I just started using this website, though, so I can’t comment much about it, but I believe that using codeacademy will be extremely helpful to me.

Anyway, it’s nice to join you all.

Hello everyone!

Now after reading, I feel like I’m the oldest here! I have a somewhat unique story! I’m 50, female and I’ve been working in software development since 1992. From 1993-1999 I worked as a “web producer and designer” at Microsoft. I developed some of the first online documentation for Windows and produced “intranet” web sites for Windows as well (I also worked on SharePoint, Microsoft.com, Windows Security Updates, SiteServer, Commerce Server.

I later went into UX engineering consulting. In 2008, the bottom fell out of the industry and I realized my skills had seriously stagnated and not kept up with the industry. In 2009, I wound up managing support for a financial institution and then moved on to tier II support engineering at a hospital for operations platform systems.

My coding (or rather mark-up) skills are limited to an advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML, and SGML (yes, I’m THAT old haha) and I have just enough background in VBS to be irrelevant.

Now, I’m back in mortgage banking, and realizing I’m ready to get back into development, because I’m working with a specific ITIL platform software and it’s time to apply my old dusty brain to full stack development skills so I can be successful at work.

And, here we go…
