Welcome to our forums! Please Introduce Yourself

Hello-World.

I am trying to be a Network Engineer some day, and I am just learning how to use Code Academy. I’m creating a welcome here to complete the sign-in to code academy assignment, this way I can help show what I am learning as I go along.

I hope that I get a lot done in many ways. I plan to use Code Academy for many years learning skills as I need them, but I am excited to see what the future holds. I am not really a coder but I am excited to learn how to code.

I’m Rick Harrison, and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss. Everything in here has a story and a price. One thing I’ve learned after 21 years - you never know what is gonna come through that door.

Hello everyone! My name is Kris and after decades of working in Marketing and a couple of years in the world of Domestic Engineer, I’m looking for my next career! I’m going through the lessons here at Codecademy to make my resume more interesting, and also maybe create a game or two. Just started, but so far I’m having fun!

Hey everyone!
I’m David, 18 years old, and currently working my way through the Code Academy course set!
I’m here looking to learn the basics of coding and then develop into a proficient coder in anticipation for future studies/employment. So far I’ve been taking the Python course and have been enjoying it (although sometimes i swear the compiler is sentient and hates me). I’m looking forward to getting more involved in the community and getting to meet and share ideas with other people!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Debra and I am a library media specialist at a private school in Texas. I am wanting to learn how to code so I can set up my library’s website so that the student’s in my school will have easier access to the online databases that our school subscribes to. I want to encourage them with an inviting website to use the library online and print resources that are available to them.

Hi,
My name is Sebastien, living in Montreal. I work in IT, mostly networking and I love developing new tools to simplify the life of my colleagues and mine, but with new challenges comes the need for a wider array of tools. I’m still quite new to the CodeAcademy curriculum, but I’m eager to discover more about this community and the courses that are available here. My main interests, at the moment, mostly revolves around Drupal technologies, be it PHP, CSS, JavaScript and so on, but it’s always nice, when time allows it, to become familiar with other ways of doing things. Nice to meet you all and to discover, one day at a time, this wonderful community. :grinning:

Who are you? You can call me Jen. I answer to Jenn and Jenny as well. Also, my parents keep insist on calling me Jennifer, but I guess since that’s the name they chose, they get that right.

What is your industry and profession? I spent most of my 20+ years in Healthcare IT as a Systems Integration Specialist, which for people who are computer-resistant, is basically a very well paid programmer (or as my mom says “a compu-diva”). I am currently “retired” and looking to reboot my career in a different direction with much less stress and more reasonable hours – like 40 or less per week.

Were do you plan to use your new coding skills? Personally/professionally? I plan to become a freelance web developer. I hope.

Why do you use Codecademy and what is your favorite thing about it? I was recommended Codeacademy by my vocational resource guidance-type person. So far my favorite part was trying it out for free.

What courses have you taken, or are planning to take? So far I’ve only taken the free HTML. I want to take the Intensive Pro programs if the voc-resources folks get me a “scholarship”.

Hi, my name is Josh. I’m a Computer Science community college student using Codecademy to learn Python. I plan to attend internships at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and NASA in the computer labs soon. They use a lot of Python at both places. I’m am currently struggling with the 8th module of the Python lessons, but I’m pulling through. Might want to frequent the help forums, then.
Thank you for having me on the website!

Hey guys and gals!
I’m a Computer & Network security student, but am also studying to (hopefully) be part of a Coding school right here in the little state of Delaware! Our very first coding school has me revved up for coding. I always wanted to learn, especially as I learned more about cyber security I learned that coding is essential not only for understanding issues, but in creating solutions. In addition to this though, our area is booming for software developers - and the more I learn coding, the more I realize just how much I love it. I’m an older student, as I have actually been in customer service for years and have also been a published author - but thanks to school and getting some great advice from my college advisor, my career went down a different path that utilized my skills more accurately. I have one degree already and am working on my second one. I hope to be able to give advice on here one day to others as I learn and go along myself (especially while the lessons are still fresh in my mind). Thank you to all the teachers, contributors, and other classmates who help us newbs get through these lessons together! Take care!

I’m Jamie
I’m a UX designer (I do the user research, system architecture and data or content models etc as well as some UI design).
I’m trying to improve my coding skills - for like the tenth time! I say improve but really despite several attempts to learn I’ve never persevered enough but now I’m not giving up. My goal is to master JS, React, Python and Express.
I play capoeira and cycle in my spare time… I cycle a lot like from London To Singapore was a tour I just completed
I’m designing an app for teachers right now. I ask a lot of stupid questions which I tend to answer myself because I should have just thought about it for longer so be patient with me please!

Peace

Im daniel and I honestly have never in my life “coded” or pretty much understood the coding language of the digital / tech world. I am a nerd when it comes to gadgets and new tech toys, however, that doesn’t mean we can’t learn something new. Explore the unknown!
