  • Who are you?
My name is Matthew M, i go by RPGMatt, Lord Just, and Blatthew depending on the community

  • What is your industry and profession?
My industry is nothing, I’ve worked for many industries. This is because my current “profession” is a Customer Service Agent.

  • Were do you plan to use your new coding skills? Personally/professionally?
I plan to use them professionally. For me, I must invest in changing my career. At 29, i can no longer continue to work as a Customer Service agent taking calls over the phone. As a man I want to move my career that pushes me, a career I can take pride in, a career that pushes me further to learn and of course that can provide more for me as well.

  • Why do you use Codecademy and what is your favorite thing about it?
I use Codeacademy because I am new to programming. I love being able to use in the browser IDE, even though it doesnt teach me 100% the basics of programming I believe it to be a great stepping stone.

  • What courses have you taken, or are planning to take?
Currently taking web development course, as I believe I can obtain a job in Web Development in a few months of hard dedicated work. From there, I plan to continue working but ultimately I want to become a software developer.

  • Have you been to any of our meetups, or events?
    No I have not.

  • Do you have any examples of work that you have done using the skills you learned at Codecademy?
    As of yet no

I hope to become very active on these forums.

Hi, my name is Michal. For some time i am keen on programming. I plan to work as professional. I think CodeAcademy is great for polishing syntax and confidence with coding. Even, if exercices is pretty easy, e.g. SQL queries. For people with some experience, CA is great place to learn new things.

Hi everybody,

I am Andrea, a linguist. I’ve taken an interest in coding, it has always been an interest really but I haven’t done anything with it the past years. I want to learn new skills to use professionally.
Someone advised Codecademy to me, I really like the structured way of learning. I’m focusing on Computer Science and Python right now, I find it very interesting and see it as a place to start my journey!

Hello everyone! My name is Allan and I’m here from Windsor, Ontario. I have been off and on with codecademy and the like for quite some time now but haven’t been too active with the community and keep getting side tracked…but that’s about to change!

I aim to make some big changes in my life and follow my dream of becoming a web/software developer. To do this I know I need to stay focused, get out of my introverted shell, become part of the community and meet lots of like minded people!

I’ll see you all around as I plan on giving just as much as I receive out of my time here!

Happy coding to you all!
-Allan

Hi all,

I’m Tish, and currently work as a technical support specialist.Recently, this year I have been craving something new and have been finding it hard to figure out what career path in IT I want to pursue. I graduated with a BS degree in IT back in 2014 and have just been working in general IT positions since. A couple of days ago, I had the bright idea to try my hand at coding, because it can’t hurt. I figure learning programming and some security might go a long way in the future. Everything I was looking at for coding is so expensive, so I’m glad a site like code academy exists!

Hello All!

My name is Daniel. I have a Bachelors in Computer Science. I currently work in IT as an Implementation Specialist. For many years now I’ve wanted to be a Web Developer. For some reason I’ve always been intimidated by it or felt that it was out of my reach. I thought I would fail. Although I like my current job I’m not very happy. My heart is set on Web Development. I finally decided to build up the courage to try and become a Web Developer! So here I am!

Who are you? I’m Mike!
What is your industry and profession? I’m currently a Help Desk Support Analyst
Were do you plan to use your new coding skills? Personally/professionally? For both! This is my first time touching and learning coding so I’m not getting my hopes up that I will turn into this genius coder, to be honest i’m still studying and lerning IT stuff and trying to pass certs. I would want for this to turn into a career for me but I know it’s alot behind coding and I’m not even scrathing the surface.

Why do you use Codecademy and what is your favorite thing about it? First time user and i have seen many say you want to evenually get out of codecademy and learn on your own, but i’m so new to this and the site from my opinion is very nice. I learn alot since I signed up and I be excited to get back.

What courses have you taken, or are planning to take? Intro to HTML
Have you been to any of our meetups, or events? Not as of yet.
Do you have any examples of work that you have done using the skills you learned at Codecademy? Hopefully one day.

I’m Jacob. My background is in digital media & animation, but found myself drawn to interactive media more than any other medium. So here I am, three years after graduating, learning code for the third time. This time I put my money where my heart is, and I will not half-■■■ it this time.

My current milestone is to reach the point where I can enter game jams. At that point I will be able to handle quick personal projects. Later down the line, I’d like to develop interactive art in galleries or microbudget games; wherever my path takes me.

What made me put money into Codecademy is the paths and projects. It’s one thing learning a language; it’s another to develop theory and accumulate experience. By the time I’m done with the Computer Science path, I hope to get a job in the field so I don’t have to worry about being a starving artist anymore haha.

I have done a small handful of events with local game studios, but I felt way out of my league. Once I have a more solid grasp of fundamentals, I’ll start attending again.

Projects from the CS path are also being saved and sent to my mentor from college to assist with my efforts. It helps him understand my progress.

Hi I’m Sebastian, from Brisbane, Australia.

I’m the sole employee of a small SaaS business so I do everything from accounts, training, basic developing, and more recently I’ve been involved in managing the outsourced redevelopment of our software. I’m here at Codecademy to develop a more in-depth understanding of code and to help me become a better product manager.

I’ve been involved from the fringes in some form of development for my entire working career. Quality Testing for a games company. Interning at a small creative agency. “Building” or should I say theming WordPress sites on the side. However, I’ve never done any real development myself. I’ve signed up the intensive build websites from scratch course and I’m looking forward to better understanding development and building a framework for several new and exciting adventures.

Good luck and thanks for reading.

Hi I’m Rabab. I have a Computer Science degree from American University of Beirut. I work full time at a company and work part time on some websites. I don’t exactly love coding but it’s kind of in between from ‘sweet spot’ to ‘meh’. I’m here to learn from tutorials and from experienced coders.

Hey all!

I’m James, from Manchester UK. I currently work as Operations Engineer supporting the online portfolio for a major Broadcaster. Currently looking to brush up on python skills and all being well I’ll learn something new to add to my skillset.

I feel too old and too uneducated, but I’m giving it a try anyway.

Hi everyone!

I’m Miha, from Slovenia.
I study entrepreneurship/economy and I’m currently on a Erasmus exchange in Florence, Italy. Even though everyone sees me as a potential future economist/business person/manager I’ve always enjoyed working with computers so that’s why I decided to give it a try.
We’ll see where it goes from here.

Hi, my name is Diana and I am “kind of” new to coding.

I am currently a Maths student. I was introduced to coding in our first year but I was unmotivated by the way we were taught it, so after completing the module, I didn’t want to come back whatsoever.
Now that I’ve finally know what I want to do in next few years, it turns out that coding will be a very big part of it, so here I am, to take the matter in my hands and learning whatever I can within a few months and continue learning afterwards!

I am very happy to be a part of this community and I hope to make some new friends

Hi everyone,
My name is Mariya. I am both greek and bulgarian. I studied Linguistics with Marketing in university for 4 years with German for a second language. I am currently living in the US and coding is something new for me. I just started with HTML as my first course. So far I love it, and I believe in the future I would consider pursuing a career in it. I am not sure yet what my focus will be: I am interested in web design, as it it closely related to Marketing. We’ll see what comes next
