Hello everyone. I’m David and I currently work in Support.

I am hoping to transition into the development world with all my new skills.

I use Codeacademy because they offer a ton a great free content and I enjoy the way it is taught, most of the time haha.

I’ve completed 8 courses so far and I’m planning to finish most all of the free stuff.

Hello everyone,

My name is Barbod and I am a graduate student.
I have started using Codecademy for the past two month and I like it very much, because it is a One Platform to Teach them All :grinning:
I haven’t started any personal project yet, but from what I have learned here, I cooked up some ideas which I plan to start them and ultimately put it on my GitHub

And finally, I wish the best for Codecademy staff and its users

Hey!
who am I?
Yet to find myself.
I just started to learn C programming in my college ,but that’s only basics. I don’t know how to apply it .
I don’t know how I can explain the problems I’m facing.
So one day heard about codecademy so thought let’s give it a try. I lasted only for 2 days and now I’m back almost after a year. Still feeling clueless.

Hi, my name is Irina. I took Python courses on Codeacademy. I also created several beta Python courses. It was two years ago, I did not log in since then, now I did, and Codeacademy changed so much, I’m wondering where those courses went.

Hello,

My name is Drew from Texas and I’m brand new to coding. I’m 31 and I’ve just started taking a few of codeacademy’s courses and I’m hooked! I didn’t realize how fun it is! I actually work as a operations manager for a couple of hotels. Since I’ve started coding, I’ve considered looking into switching to a profession where I could use some of these skills. I’m actually wondering what jobs would be available for someone like me that has no experience in this field. Other than 1 computer science course I took in college about 10 years ago, I don’t have anything I could put on a resume. Any advice would be appreciated.

I look forward to continue learning more about coding!

Who are you?

Hello there everyone! I’m going by Silas Mao on this site, so don’t feel afraid to send me a message or something!

What is your industry and profession?

I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors degree in chemistry, but my specialisation is more toward biochemistry, as I did one year of organic chemistry research and three years of biochemistry research in faculty lab, and was able to present at a national conference. Most people don’t like chemistry, and I can definitely understand why and how they could have a bad experience, but I think I was lucky enough to have great professors. Especially my research advisor!

Were do you plan to use your new coding skills? Personally/professionally?

I definitely plan on using that which I learn here personally. I have always had a computer growing up, and learnt how to fix what I needed to fix primarily by accidentally botching something up and then having to use a different computer to search for solutions! I have pretty much noooo programming skill prior to coming here. I did play around with C++, but got kinda annoyed or bored after I couldn’t figure something out. I really love programming languages because it’s like a grammar puzzle and grammar was always the best part of English courses I’ve taken.

Anyway, I’d really enjoy to learn some penetration and security testing skills. In another life, I could just as likely have majored in computer science (or Chinese language or philosophy or music or…). But I didn’t choose computer science, so pleaaase be patient with me. I do try to search up solutions to my own questions, but create threads after spending an amount of time leading to frustration. So, I’m not just searching for a quick answer to proceed. I want to learn!

Why do you use Codecademy and what is your favorite thing about it?

Well, I found codecademy (I keep wanting to write codeacademy or something!) by accident while searching for information on PHP, and found out it could teach me a bit about PHP. and so I started and completed that course pretty easily (way easier than Javascript! XD). Now, I’m just sorta choosing languages at random to learn about them! I think the Q/A forums being so active with not only Questioners but also realllllyyy quick answers from experts!

What courses have you taken, or are planning to take?

Took PHP and completed it in a night and a day. Now working on Javascript here and there…

Have you been to any of our meetups, or events?

Nope! I didn’t know these existed, and I’m a bit of a recluse and noob, so I’m not sure what I’d really contribute to these?

Do you have any examples of work that you have done using the skills you learned at Codecademy?

Not really! I’ve only recently joined and am just completing the assignments now. However, sometimes I get curious about different ways to simplify the coding that the site is guiding me to use, so sometimes I figure out different ways to complete the assignments. I am testing my intuition, haha.

Do you have a cool story to tell about how Codecademy helped you achieve your goals?

Hopefully I’ll be able to come back and add something here! :octopus:

Anyway, I’m not really good at programming at all, but I see the magic in it, am trying to learn, and have not much going on this year, so it should be a good hobby for a while!

Thank you to those who created, moderate, or simply answer questions here. Very awesome place!

Lauren

What is your industry and profession?

Basement dweller.

Were do you plan to use your new coding skills? Personally/professionally?

Not sure yet - I just wanted to start learning.

Why do you use Codecademy and what is your favorite thing about it?

So far, this is the first place that I’ve used where I feel like I consistently understand what I’m doing. I don’t feel like I’m just copy/pasting, which leaves you struggling to apply your knowledge to novel situations.
I also appreciate the lack of long explanations about what each thing is called and a whole lot of words that tend to make my eyes glaze over. It doesn’t sink in for me that way. Working through it is how I learn, and then the terminology quickly rights itself for me.

What courses have you taken, or are planning to take?

Currently working on Python.

Hello everyone!

My name is Thanos (just like the Marvel super villain, i am sure some of you have heard of him).

I am 26 years old and right now, i am working as a Software Engineer for a major software development company in Greece.

I started using codeacademy for fun so i could have a taste of AngularJS, JS, jQuery and Python. Soon i was able to create my first applications. My first application was a Weather forecast application using AngularJS, JS and of course HTML/CSS. I experimented even more with different APIs (e.g. an API that retrieves F1 driver leader board). Not long ago, i finished up an application that informs if a site is up or down using Python.

I am at your service for answering questions regarding AngularJS, HTML/CSS, Python, JS, jQuery and JAVA.
