I guess the time has come for me to actually write something here.
I'm Kylea, (enunciated ky - lee, not ky - le - uh, i've never met someone yclept my name either.) I live in northeastern Florida, so you can imagine why I don't go outside.
I'm only fifteen, so my "profession" is school. It's definitely a struggle, I homeschool so I have a lot of flexibility, but it is a lot to maintain sometimes.
I think that I want to program professionally once I am an adult, and that's sort of a loaded statement. Children say that they want to be things all the time, but I think that I've finally found something I thoroughly enjoy. My dad was pushing electrical engineering on me for a while and I thought I would end up doing that because it's not awful, but once I started programming, (not even very long ago), I fell in love with it.
I use codecademy addictively, meaning that I'm never not using it if I have free time. My favorite thing about it is that it's so easy to use and it's quite entertaining or funny. It's so user friendly, and of course there are things that could be done better, but it's a free website literally changing the world. I love that it really has inspired me in the most genuine way.
I have not been to meet ups for Codecademy, (I'm in the majority whoops), but that would be extremely cool.
I have built a lot of random things with Java like a BMI calculator, a measurement conversion program, and a lot of other small things.
My dad was really the one who got me into programming because he had to learn in college and he doesn't really need it for his job, but he uses it at his job, (Visual Basic Script), to get things done more efficiently. He is also building a guitar looper pedal in Python and it's so cool seeing that come together.
Anyways, this was pretty long. You'll see me around the forums a lot responding to anything I can, lol, but I'm just really happy to be part of this community honestly.
