Hi programmers!

I’m new here and I would like to ask you… If I want to be a game programmer, for companyies like Square Enix, Level 5… In which language should I start learning?

I’ve read that is very important to know C and C++ but Codecademy doesn’t offer courses of these ones. Where can I learn these languages?

I know that I can be thinking in big dreams, but it is my whish since I started to play videogames

I will be very grateful if you can send me this information

I would recommend learning C++, C#, Java, and Unity. But this may vary depending on what the kind of games you will developing but since square enix fcus mainly on open world games those are the best to start with.

Thank you

But how do you recommend me learn C++, C# and Unity? Because codecademy doesn’t have courses of them :frowning:

Unity offers tutorials on their main site,

and you can learn,

Both C# and C++ on Udemy.

If you want to work for Square Enix or Level 5, another language that will be a huge plus for you is Japanese :

As you can imagine, it is quite competitive to work for one of these top game companies. If you can get your foot in the door as a bilingual QA tester or similar non-programming role, this would be a big step towards advancing your career.

Yeah I know, this year I’'m going to get First Certificate (I’m from Spain) and next year I’m going to start learning Japanese

I’ll continue learning English until I got Advance, and with Japanese I would like also get a certification like Advance, but it will cost a lot of time and preparation…

Thank you so much!
