Very NEWB question I know

I know this is may be a typical NEWBIE question but I am wondering how does one retain all of the information we are learning in coding? Is it that I am just not cut out for it?
I can do all of the projects just fine but when I try to build something and branch off on my own I feel as if I have learned nothing at all and retained nothing from the coursework. I try to build a new project and I have no idea where to start.
Are some people just not cut out for this cause thats how im feeling. I usually pick up on things very quickly but am frustrated as to how Im struggling here. I WANT to GET IT! I want to succeed but its not sticking…Maybe Im too old IDK.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

“How do you get to Carnegie Hall?”

“Practice.”
:smirk:

Learning new concepts can be a little overwhelming at times. But, one can start retaining the loads of information being taken in by practicing it or by doing projects on their own.

Take notes in some form while going through the modules too. That may also help.

Happy coding!
