Veneer - Step 33

Veneer Project

I ran through all the steps in this project. I am not getting the expected output from Step #33.

Finally, print out girl_with_mandolin one last time. It should display the following:
Monet, Claude. “Vétheuil in the Fog”. 1879, oil on canvas. The MOMA, New York.

Which is incorrect, but the part that is the problem is The MOMA". In my code it prints the original owner Edytta Halpirt. I walked through the steps in the video without any luck in resolving this issue

The video is outdated and has missing steps or at least the steps are different from that version and the one currently hosted.

Anyhow, this is my code. I am out of ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it.

Can you point at where it was supposed to change?
If not, then it’s missing, and that’s why, or if yes, then, is that operation having that effect? If not, you have a single operation misbehaving which should be small enough to fix.

Problem that I am aware of lies in this

I suspect it is == self

But I am out of ideas on how to change it to reflect the new owner?

Is that line you suspect supposed to change the owner, or test if the owner is the same (edit:equivalent to) the current Client object?

That line is suppose to change ownership.

Time for another coffee perhaps :wink:, == is not =.

Maybe two cups lol. It’s amazing how one thing, and even a possible typo, can break something, and then hide in sight so well. Thank you for the eagle eyes.

You wouldn’t stop at guessing, you could print before and after doing it to measure whether it had the desired effect

After which, you’d have a single operation, assignment, for which you could then consider, hey, how is assignment done, maybe experiment with it or something similar, google etc. It’s one operation so that should be feasible.

I can’t copy text from console but the pic will show that the correct message now is being displayed.

Yeah I mean, you could verify that it was that particular operation not doing what you want, and then you’d have a very narrow focus on what needs to be fixed.

As for copying… you’re not able to highlight it or something like that? Some terminals require you to hold shift or something like that, while highlighting or while right-click to copy, or might use something like ctrl+insert (on windows) rather than ctrl c … no idea how vscode’s terminal behaves.
Idk about powershell, but for unix shells, key strokes like ctrl c are supposed to be passed to the program so that’s why it shouldn’t be used for copying

I’m used to using Ctrl, so maybe that is why I can’t in some consoles. I’ll try shift+ctrl.

EDIT: Indeed it is shift+ctrl + c to copy from console in VSC.
