I am having trouble on the last part of 2. Tip Calculator. My total is coming up as $47. 98. I try all different kinds of codes and nothing is working. Help?
It would help if you posted what you have so we can help.
I am not terribly good at reading minds you see.
Also please format it like the following
```python # code sample ```
Those strange little characters are from the tilde key or the top left-most key under your f-keys.
Assign the variable total on line 8!
meal = 44.50
tax = 0.0675
tip = 0.15
meal = meal + meal * tax
total = meal + tip
print("%.2f" % total)
The tip calculation is,
total = meal + meal * tip
How in term of math, does meal + meal not 89 without tax/tip?
Order of operation applies. Multiplication takes place before addition.
Consider the following:
total = meal + meal * tip total = meal * (1 + tip) // Distributive Property
