Oops, try again. Did you create a variable called the_machine_goes? behave incorrectly?

Display "Ping!"

 """Assign the string "Ping!" to
the variable the_machine_goes on
line 5, then print it out on line 6!"""

the_machine_goes = "Ping!"
print=the_machine_goes

I've tried this in every possible way! no matter how i type it i still get the error message saying my code is incorrect depite what every textbook, youtube tutorial, and example of this excersize says otherwise!

#2

the_machine_ goes = "Ping!"

print the_machine_goes = "Ping!"

There is no equals sign after the print, and you must print the whole thing not just the variable. May be mistaken with printing the whole thing but still there is no equal sign after print.

#3

im looking at it again and there's definitely a equals sign between print and machine goes

#9

You definitely do not write the whole statement again. You just write "print " followed by what you're printing, in this case the variable the_machine_goes. So as @mtf says, the correct line would be

print the_machine_goes

#10

The answer is:

the_machine_goes = "Ping!"

print the_machine_goes

#11

yeah i dont know what it is i have it exactly as you guys say its still saying it's not working

#12

and another thing the output window to the right shows ping

#13

I think the excersise might actually be broken because it says its wrong but the window to the right says ping and i tried the print method with a parenthesis in my python interpreter and it worked

#14

i tried that and i got this is the exercise broken cause i even looked it up on youtube an try to copy that but still failed wth
