I am stuck on lesson 8, "What if choice1 is scissors?".
I don't understand what what is wrong, but when I press 'save and submit code' it gives me the error message "There was a problem with your syntax."

here is my code, Please help!

var userChoice = prompt("Do you choose rock, paper or scissors?");
var computerChoice = Math.random();
if (computerChoice < 0.34) {
	computerChoice = "rock";
} else if(computerChoice <= 0.67) {
	computerChoice = "paper";
} else {
	computerChoice = "scissors";
} console.log("Computer: " + computerChoice);

var compare = function(choice1, choice2) {
    if(choice1 === choice2) {
        return "The result is a tie!";
    }

        else if(choice1 === "rock") {

         if (choice2 === "scissors") {
             return "rock wins";
         }
         else {
             return "paper wins";
         }
             else if (choice1 === "paper"){

                 if (choice2 === "rock") {
                     return "paper wins";
                 }

                 else {
                     return "scissors wins";
                 }
                 else if (choice1 === "scissors") {

                     if (choice2 === "paper"){
                         return "scissors wins";
                     }
                     else {
                         return "rock wins";
                     }
                 }
             }

        }
};
compare(userChoice,computerChoice);

it says "SyntaxError: Unexpected keyword 'else'" if that helps?

@jallu2.0,
You have to look at the structure of your
IF ELSE-IF-IF-ELSE ELSE-IF-IF-ELSE ELSE-IF-IF-ELSE
Please read
http://www.codecademy.com/forum_questions/559dcb4be39efe550f00006b
and concentrate on:

  • the creation of the compare function
  • the truth-table
  • the build of the IF ELSE-IF statement structure as part of the compare FUNCTION-BODY
  • the execution of the compare function (keeping in mind that the return statement is used )

@leonhard.wettengmx.n
thanks for the help, but i still don't understand what i need to fix. what dose it mean when it says "Oops, try again. There was a problem with your syntax." and "SyntaxError: Unexpected keyword 'else'"?

@jallu2.0,
As i allready pointed out
you have to look at your IF ELSE-IF structure....

The curly-brackets-{ } are used to encapsulate so-called code-blocks.......!!!!
you are using them as candy, placing them all over the place.....

Please read
http://www.codecademy.com/forum_questions/559dcb4be39efe550f00006b1
and concentrate on:
•the build of the IF ELSE-IF statement structure as part of the compare FUNCTION-BODY
