When we call the getRemainder function on the last line, we include two numbers as the parameters, also separated by commas. This is referred to as passing in parameters to a function.

Shouldn't the parameters be called arguments in this case since the function is being called at this point?


This is a famous debate among programmers(you can look up on internet),
Parameters are simply considered as variables/placeholders.
Arguments are the values that are replaced in place of Parameters when calling a function.

The definition/terminology is quite interchangeable sometimes.
