Terminal / Command Line

When using macOS, is Terminal just the name of a command-line app (like how there’s the Command Prompt in Windows), or is there a more nuanced difference? (Trying to make sure that my notes are accurate.)

MacOS en Windows are very different operating systems. The command prompt on windows is not very extensive (There is powershell), while in mac you can do a lot in the command line.

The important concept to grasp here: the difference between command line interface (CLI) and graphical user interface (GUI).

the GUI is what you are currently looking at, the desktop is graphical (with icons and clicking), while the command line interface is mostly text. The terminal is a GUI program given you a command line interface

not sure if macOS supports this as well, but Linux can run without a GUI (so in command line interface only)
