Hi,
I’ m not sure how to select the best feature combo as required by the project. Do I have to select from those that have a linear relationship with the outcome that they predict?
If that is the case, how to tell if a relationship is linear by looking at a scatter plot?
I have this question because this distribution doesn’t
seem linear to me, but the hint given by Codecademy suggests that the axis-x variable is an important feature.
So, two questions: One, are best features necessarily ones that have a linear relationship with the outcome being predicted? And two, is there a more precise way to tell if a scatter plot indicates a linear relationship?
Thanks a lot!
best,
YS
