Syntax Error - Unexpected Keyword 'Else'

#1

I'm stuck on the final bit of the 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' lesson, I keep getting the message 'Syntax error - unexpected keyword else'.

I have read through the previous forum questions but I can't figure out where my mistake is!

Thanks

var userChoice = prompt("Do you choose rock, paper or scissors?");
var computerChoice = Math.random();
if (computerChoice < 0.34) {
	computerChoice = "rock";
} else if(computerChoice <= 0.67) {
	computerChoice = "paper";
} else {
	computerChoice = "scissors";
} console.log("Computer: " + computerChoice);

var compare = function(choice1, choice2) {
    if(choice1 === choice2) {
        return "The result is a tie!";
    }
}

else if(choice1 === "rock") {

    if(choice2 === "scissors") {
        return "rock wins";
    }
    else {
        return "paper wins";
    }
}

else if(choice1 === "paper") {

    if(choice2 ==== "rock") {
        return "paper wins";
    }
    else {
        return "scissors wins";
    }
}

else if(choice1 === "scissors") {

    if(choice2 === "rock") {
        return "rock wins";
    }
    else {
        return "scissors wins";
    }
}

compare(userChoice, computerChoice);

this is currently your compare function:

var compare = function(choice1, choice2) {
    if(choice1 === choice2) {
        return "The result is a tie!";
    }
}

your function ends way to earlier, all the else if should also be in the function. All the comparisons should be in your compare function

thank you! I also realised I had an extra '=' in one of the statements!

did you solve the problem?
