what are super users? in the badge list there is no description of what it actually means…

Edit: i confused super users with moderators, super user can be earned by being helpful on the forum, see link i provided (thanks to @albionsrefuge)

Not quite, but I can see where one might get that. Getting to Trust Level 3/Super User is automatically earned by your activities in the forum.
It is just the Moderator badge that is invite only. They are like Super User+
