"String Index Out of Range" Error

#1

I am getting this error message when not typing anything in attempts to get empty. I have no idea what I did wrong or how to fix it.

Hi @dustin1111,

You’re trying to access the first letter of an empty string. If you type a word in the console before pressing Enter, the error should go away.

thank you sorry it took me a while to get back to you

in my opinion zystvan missed a crucial point, do you really want to get the first letter and do slicing before you validated the input is valid (isalpha and length greater then zero)?
