Stocking Out

#1

shopping_list = ["banana", "orange", "apple"]

stock = {
    "banana": 6,
    "apple": 0,
    "orange": 32,
    "pear": 15
}

prices = {
    "banana": 4,
    "apple": 2,
    "orange": 1.5,
    "pear": 3
}

# Write your code below!
def compute_bill(food):
    total = 0
    for item in food:
        if stock[item] > 0:
            total = total + prices[item]
            stock[item] = stock[item] - 1
    return total
print compute_bill(shopping_list)

it gives me error below:

stock doesn't look quite right! Make sure to not call compute_bill since it changes the stock! It should contain: {'orange': 32, 'pear': 15, 'banana': 6, 'apple': 0}

can anyone tell me what's wrong in code?

your code look correct , can you rewrite it with indentation ( very important in python)

#4

You have the floor...

#5

your code is correct , you just should remove the call of compute_bill ;so codecademy can verify your code if is correct or not
