SQL Join Condition

Does the placing of ‘on’ conditions within a join matter?
For eg. does a.id = b.cid give me the same result as b.cid-a.id ?

Welcome to the forums.

No, it doesn’t matter. if x=y is True then y=x is also True.

Maybe it’s just me, but I try to be consistent and write the joined column on the joining column. (b.id is the joining column). But, that’s just how my brain works.
ex:

SELECT ---
FROM a
JOIN b ON
a.id = b.id
