# Something of Value

#1

I am having difficulty with this exercise. It says that I need to define the function total, which I did, but then it says that is an unvalid syntax. Please help!

prices = {
"banana" : 4,
"apple" : 2,
"orange" : 1.5,
"pear" : 3,
}
stock = {
"banana" : 6,
"apple" : 0,
"orange" : 32,
"pear" : 15,
}

for key in prices:
print key
print "price: %s" % prices[key]
print "stock: %s" % stock[key]
def total = 0

for key in prices:
total = total + prices[key] * stock[key]

print total

stock = {

"orange" : 32,
"pear" : 15,
}

for key in prices:
print key
print "price: %s" % prices[key]
print "stock: %s" % stock[key]

total= 0

for key in prices:
print
total= total+ stock[key] * prices[key]
print key, total

You don't need to define total. If you remove "def", it should work!
