[solved]Ending Up help!?

I'm getting some issues with Ending Up. Here is my code:

pyg = 'ay'

original = raw_input('Enter a word:')

if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
word= original.lower()
new_word= word + first + pyg
first= word[0]
new_word= new_word [1:len(new_word)]
print original
print 'empty'

I'm entering the word "pudding."

I keep getting this: Oops, try again. It looks like new_word contains "uddingcay" instead of "uddingpay"!

Where in the heck is that "C" coming from?!

Ah, nevermind. I'm not sure why that was happening but I didn't recreate the error and the translator functions on the next step.

maybe useful for next time, please read this post about markdown so your code/indent will show.
