# [Solved]Danger, Will Robinson! --- Can't pass even with official code

#1

So here’s the thing, Guys!
I really need someone explain to me why I can’t pass occasionally with official answer?

Both wrong:

Row wrong but Col right1:

Row wrong but Col right2:

Row right but Col wrong1:

Row right but Col wrong2:

Code:

from random import randint

board = []

for x in range(0, 5):
board.append([“O”] * 5)

def print_board(board):
for row in board:
print " ".join(row)

print_board(board)

def random_row(board):
return randint(0, len(board) - 1)

def random_col(board):
return randint(0, len(board[0]) - 1)

ship_row = random_row(board)
ship_col = random_col(board)
print ship_row
print ship_col
guess_row = int(raw_input("Guess Row: "))
guess_col = int(raw_input("Guess Col: "))

if guess_row == ship_row and guess_col == ship_col:
print “Congratulations! You sank my battleship!”

else:
print "You missed my battleship!"
board[guess_row][guess_col] = "X"
print_board(board)

lists are zero indexed based, the valid inputs are: 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4

entering 5 will throw an error, you will add code later to handle shots that are outside the ocean

in this lesson you have to enter a valid coordinate

#3

Oh! Yeah! You are right! It is because I entered 5!
Thank you!

#4

yes, which is not a list index, so not in your ocean

of course, the end user of your game might also enter 5 (or maybe even higher) so we will need to add code later to show a user friendly error message and preventing our program from crashing
