Here is your first column:

    <div class="row">
      <div class="col-md-4">
        <div class="thumbnail">
            <img src="http://goo.gl/0sX3jq" >
            </div>
        </div> 8
    <div class="thumbnail">
        <img src="http://goo.gl/an2HXY" >
    </div>

Here it is again with the matching open/close tags aligned (so you can see what you are building). Plus a few comments.

<div class="row">

    <div class="col-md-4"> <!-- 1st column begins -->
        <div class="thumbnail">
            <img src="http://goo.gl/0sX3jq" >
        </div> <!-- closes thumbnail -->
    </div> 8 <!-- what is this 8 for? this tag is ending your column -->

    <!-- now your 2nd thumbnail is out in the cold -->

        <div class="thumbnail">
            <img src="http://goo.gl/an2HXY" >
        </div> <!-- closes thumbnail -->

You didn't really fix anything, except for taking that 8 away. You are still ending your first column after the first thumbnail instead of the second one.
