Scrabble score : I cant make it work

This loop is unnecessary. Simply iterate over the word, and look up each letter in the table and accumulate the score in a total. Below I'll refer to the dictionary as scores (in the plural).

score = 0
for letter in word:
    score += scores(letter.lower())
return score
