My question is in relation to when we are setting a new variable called 'first' and assigning it to word[0], why is this necessary considering my program works fine without this line.

What is it meant to do exactly, we are asked to enter this new variable in task 8 Word Up.


I acknowledge this would return the first letter of our user input which is stored in the variable word. but what does assigning this variable do.....?

we will use it to make our pyglatin translation cooler:

new_word = word + first + pyg

we use first here to have the first letter after the word
