My code is correct according to the simulator but when I type a word that meets the requirements of my if statement, "empty" from the else statement is still printed.

Can anyone see what my error could be?

print 'Welcome to the Pig Latin Translator!'

original = raw_input("Enter a word:")
original = ""
if len(original) > 0 and len(original).isalpha():
    print len(original)
else:
    print "empty"

Not going to be alpha since len is an integer.

original.isalpha()
print original

...Right, thanks! I'll remove the len
