Project: Visualizing the Orion Constellation

I have recently completed the Orion Constellations path project for the Data Science pathway and I encourage any feedback on the project.

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
from mpl_toolkits.mplot3d import Axes3D

Data

# Orion
x = [-0.41, 0.57, 0.07, 0.00, -0.29, -0.32,-0.50,-0.23, -0.23]
y = [4.12, 7.71, 2.36, 9.10, 13.35, 8.13, 7.19, 13.25,13.43]
z = [2.06, 0.84, 1.56, 2.07, 2.36, 1.72, 0.66, 1.25,1.38]

2d Plot

fig = plt.figure()
fig.add_subplot(1,1,1)
plt.scatter(x, y, marker='x', c='Yellow', label='2D Orion')
plt.title('2d chart of Orion')
plt.xlabel('Orion x Coordinates')
plt.ylabel('Orion y Coordinates')
plt.legend()
plt.show()

3D Plot

fig_3d = plt.figure()
fig_3d.add_subplot(1,1,1,projection="3d")
constellation3d = plt.scatter(x,y,z, marker='o', c='blue', label='Stars in Orion')
plt.title('3D Model of Orion')
plt.xlabel('X coordinates of stars in Orion')
plt.ylabel('y coordinates of stars in Orion')
plt.legend()
plt.show()

Any feedback is most welcome. Many Thanks

Nice work!

My comment:
Just on a visual level the 2d chart is hard to look at because of the bright yellow on white.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the yellow is difficult to see, I had done the same for the ‘3D’ plot however that was even harder to see soI changed it. I think what I was going for is that ‘Stars’ are yellow/white at night so wanted to reflect that. I was looking for a parameter to change the background colour of the graph area to make it show up better but could not figure that out.
