Problems with adding Text to image on Dosamoto's banner and sizing banner;

You must select a tag to post in this category. Please find the tag relating to the section of the course you are on E.g. Forms, Structure

When you ask a question, don’t forget to include a link to the exercise or project you’re dealing with! project I am working on:
Intro to Local Website Development | Codecademy

Having issues putting banner into place into container size wise, and then putting text required into the banner afterwards.

html code I am using:
!DOCTYPE html>

First Project
<style>
    *{margin: 0; padding: 0:}
    body{ font-size 20px}

</style>
<div class="container">
    <div class="row">
        <div class="banner">
            <img src="https://content.codecademy.com/courses/freelance-1/unit-2/pattern.jpeg?_gl=1*1pbn5kd*_ga*OTYzNDk2NTExNC4xNjYxMDQ2MTYw*_ga_3LRZM6TM9L*MTY2Mzk1MDI1OC41MC4xLjE2NjM5NTQ0NDYuNTcuMC4w"1" height="650px width=250px"></img>
        <h1 class="heading"><h1>Dasamoto's Arts & Crafts</h1>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>

CSS code I am using:
.banner {
position:
{ relative;
width: 100%
Height: 10%
margin: 0
auto;}
img {
width: 100%;
}

.heading{
color: khaki position:
absolute;
top: 50%
width: 100%;
text-align:
center;
font-size:
100%;}

}
h1 {
position: absolute;

h2 {
font-family: helvetica;
font-size: 32px;
font-weight: bold;
color: white;

}

h3 {
font-family: helvetica;
font-weight: bold;
color: blue;
}

I have tried several ways to figure this out and have spent a week with different possible solutions, so please any assistance would help!!!

Welcome to the forums @garybrents!

First I would suggest not using an img tag to put the image in the header area. Instead place the image in the background of the header using the following css:

  background-image: url("/Users/Documents/Projects/Code Academy/Dasmoto/resources/images/pattern.jpeg");

As a result your HTML for the header is much simpler:

<header>
      <h1>Dasmoto's Arts & Crafts</h1>
</header>

This provides a couple of advantages, 1st it is simpler to get the styling the way you want. And second you would be using the proper semantic tag for the header area. Hope that help get you in the right direction. Let me know if you want to see all of the code.

thank you, I will give that a try and see what happens! appreciate your help
