Please Help, New here

I have downloaded python on my device but I wanted to create a program,
but the problem is that when I press enter it executes that much only.
what to do to resolve that?

It would help to know what operating system you’re using, but…

I’m going to presume that you’ve downloaded and installed Python, including it’s “development environment” IDLE.

When you open IDLE, what you get is actually a Python prompt inside of IDLE. So, when you type a statement into it and hit return the statement is immediately executed - something like this:

Python 3.8.5
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license()" for more information.
>>> example = "this is a string"
>>> print(example)
this is a string
>>> for letter in example:
	print(letter)

t
h
i
s

i
s

a

s
t
r
i
n
g
>>>

On the menu at the top of IDLE, if you click File > New File you’ll get a new window which will allow you to create a larger program. From that new window, simply press F5 to run the program. :slight_smile:

Hope that helps, but if not it would be useful to know the OS you’re using and to have a screenshot of what you’re looking at where statements are being immediately executed. :slight_smile:
