PigLatin 3/11

#1

What is wrong with this code I can’t type in console and it says did i create a variable called original.

print 'Welcome to the Pig Latin Translator!

Start coding here!

original = raw_input(‘Enter a word:’)

#2

Do the instructions tell that you must use raw_input()?
If not, don’t type it yet, it doesn’t work if the instructions don’t tell you to use it.
Else, try reloading the page or even re-logging in codeacademy.

#3

It might be the use of ’ instead of ". Did you try original = raw_input(“Enter a word:”)?

#4

I also tried to change the double quote (") to single quote (’) but nothing is happening.

#5

Hi @electromag123,

Are you missing a quote at the end of this line? …

print 'Welcome to the Pig Latin Translator!

#6

nope… complete statement is written in quotes

#7

After you click the Run button to submit the code, do you see any text in the console?

#8

i dont know but 3/11 is completed. But facing problem in 4/11.

#9

It is best to start a new thread if you have encountered a problem in another exercise. Initiate a thread and paste your current code for 4/11 into it.

#10

i did but nothing has changed.

here is my code

print ‘Welcome to the Pig Latin Translator!’

original = raw_input(“Enter a word:”)
if len(original) > 0 :
print original
else:
print “empty”

After clicking RUN following code I am getting in console.

Welcome to the Pig Latin Translator!
Enter a word:SCT

WHY this SCT word in coming…even though I am not entering any input in console.

please help.

It must be a bug. Codecademy staff, please note this and make corrections.
