Oops, try again. get_class_average([alice]) resulted in an error: list indices must be integers, not str

I'm trying to find class average, but it just doesn't seem to work and I can't figure out why. Any tips?

In your loop header, you set up `student` as an item in the `students` list ...

``for student in students:``

... but then you accessed the entire `students` list instead of an individual item here ...

``results.append(get_average(students))``

You are right, however that's just an error after several attempts of fixing it.

The following doesn't work for me either:

``````def get_class_average(students):
results = []
for student in students:
results.append(get_average(student))
return results``````

In your most recent post, this returns `results`, which is a `list` of all the `student` averages ...

``return results``

Instead, you need to return the average of all the numbers in that `list`.

Thank you. All i needed was as you said, to take average of the result.
