when I run my code it said this Oops, try again. get_class_average([alice]) resulted in an error: float division by zero

I wanted it to show the class average but it didn't

lloyd = {
    "name": "Lloyd",
    "homework": [90.0, 97.0, 75.0, 92.0],
    "quizzes": [88.0, 40.0, 94.0],
    "tests": [75.0, 90.0]
}
alice = {
    "name": "Alice",
    "homework": [100.0, 92.0, 98.0, 100.0],
    "quizzes": [82.0, 83.0, 91.0],
    "tests": [89.0, 97.0]
}
tyler = {
    "name": "Tyler",
    "homework": [0.0, 87.0, 75.0, 22.0],
    "quizzes": [0.0, 75.0, 78.0],
    "tests": [100.0, 100.0]
}
student = [lloyd, tyler, alice]
# Add your function below!
def average(numbers):
   total = sum(numbers)
   total = float(total)
   average = total / len(numbers)
   return average
def get_average(student):
   homework = average(student["homework"])
   quizzes = average(student["quizzes"])
   tests = average(student["tests"])
   return 0.1 * homework + 0.3 * quizzes + 0.6 * tests
def get_letter_grade(score):
   if score >= 90:
      return "A"
   elif score <= 90 and score >= 80:
      return "B"
   elif score <= 80 and score >= 70:
      return "C"
   elif score <= 70 and score >= 60:
      return "D"
   else:
      return "F"
def get_class_average(student):
   results = []
   average(results)
   for student in student:
      results.append(get_average(student))

   return results
   print results

#2

def get_class_average(student):
   results = []
   average(results)
   for student in student:
      results.append(get_average(student))

   return results
   print results

The problem is that you called average(results) before you had appended any values to it.

Because there were no values, it tried to divide 0/0 which results in an error.

Also, a function exits after you return so the print statement will have no effect.

#3

that doesn't appear to be working I switched
return results
print results
to
return average
print average

#4

actually the error message has changed now it says Oops, try again. get_class_average([alice]) resulted in an error: list indices must be integers, not str

#5

sorry about the first message I am not so good at following directions

#6

never mind I went back through and redid the entire thing and it worked, no judging me
