Node.js buffer.js comments

Hello everyone,

I’m reading the source code of buffer.js (just started node.js after React in the web dev path) which can be found here https://github.com/nodejs/node/blob/v14.9.0/lib/buffer.js

It’s not the first time I see this but the 20 first lines are a comment, why make 20 single line comments instead of one multiline comment?

It’s not a very important question but still got me curious. I think that compilation time increases with comments but at a small scale the time loss is pretty insignificant, but would that play a role in a source code with hundreds of thousands of lines?

They use lots of single line comments in a row and suddenly 266 - 277 is a multi line comment.
