Need help with 10

#1

Don't know exactly what I'm doing wrong, can someone help?

pyg = 'ay'
original = raw_input('Enter a word:')

if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
word = original.lower()
first = word[0]
new_word = word + first + pyg
new_word[1]
print new_word[1:len(new_word)]
else:
print 'empty'

Now it says all of it is correct but it also says "Oops, try again. It looks like you printed the correct translation of "riding", but make sure to set new_word equal to the slice as well."

however, in the console I get this

Enter a word: riding
idingray
None

Help please haha
